U8s and U10s Football Season Kicks off
Football training for our U8s and U10s is due to re-commence on Sunday 31st January. Due to the possibility of inclement weather we will be using the all-weather pitch & sports hall at St Patrick’s School for a number of weeks before moving up to Slemish Park later in the season. Thanks to St Patrick’s for the use of their facilities.
- Training will run from 11.15 – 12.45
- Can all players come suitably attired for the weather conditions; also, given that we will be using the all weather pitch, we strongly advise that you wear long sleeves and track-suits bottoms. No football boots – trainers instead.
- Can you bring along your own drink.
- These training sessions are open to U8 & U10 boys.
- To qualify for U10’s you need to be born in 2000 or 2001
- To qualify for U8’s you need to be born in 2002 or 2003
- We have three fixtures scheduled for the early part of the season, as preliminary games prior to the Go Games Mini league starting……
- 21st February away to St Brigids Belfast
- 14th March away to Glenravel
- 28th March home to Wolfe Tones Lurgan
As our first match is only a few weeks into the start of the season, we need everyone to attend all training sessions prior to this game.
- Another date for your diary is Sunday 7th February, when we will be running our Registration Event in the Parish Centre.
We welcome new members, so please can you encourage friends / classmates to come along and join the fun!

U12 Hurlers Take Indoor League Title
Congratulations to our U12 hurlers who won the Section 4 Indoor Hurling League final at Seven Towers Leisure Centre on Saturday. They played St Enda’s, Glengormley in a thrilling game which had the large crowd on their feet throughout.
The two teams had met previously with All Saints winning 5 : 0. However this score line is deceptive. St Enda’s had missed the first round of matches because they were snowbound and unable to travel. After losing to All Saints in the opening game of the following week’s qualifying section, they reorganised and won the rest of their games to qualify for the final. St Enda’s are a very good team and the lads were in no doubt of the challenge ahead as they pinned their favourites’ tag outside the dressing room door before the match.
Both teams were well psyched up as they lined out. The game was played at a frenetic pace from the start; the ball zoomed up and down the court amidst a cacophony of strikes, hooks and blocks. The lads were urged on by vociferous support from a large contingent of parents and club members; pulses raced and complexions were sauna like.
The teams were evenly matched in the first half. St Enda’s scored first, but Eamon Elliott replied with a well taken equaliser soon after. All Saints started to get the upper hand and could have gone ahead but were denied by some great stops by the St Enda’s goal keeper. The score remained deadlocked at half time.
The second half resumed at the same intensity. St Enda’s got a goal from a long range shot causing our mentors to suffer heart palpitations on the side line. However, the character of the All Saints lads shone through, they responded to the pressure and upped their game. In goals, Daire Hasson pulled off some great saves and his puck outs were intelligently placed to avert danger and set up attacks. Joseph McCann was solid as a rock in defence and put in some timely blocks and hooks to deny the opposition forwards. The mid field pairing of Conor McCormick and Ciarán Neeson were parlous throughout, breaking up play and launching counter attacks. Up front, Eamon Elliott was in top form, he snatched onto every opportunity and was a torment to the opposition back line. He scored two more goals including a sublime left handed strike from the wing to put All Saints ahead. Ciarán Neeson put the game out of reach with a pile driver from mid field after having a previous attempt disallowed.
The final whistle signalled the start of some exuberant celebrations from the lads and their supporters. At the award presentation, Sean O’Rawe and Ronan Ward accepted the winner’s trophy on behalf of the squad
Team and Scorers
Daire Hasson, Joseph McCann, Conor McCormick, Ciarán Neeson (1), Sean O’Rawe
Eamon Elliott (3), , Ronan Ward, Conor Cosgrove, Patrick O’Hara, Padhraig Magill, Eoin McGuigan, Ryan McGarry,.
We are very proud of this squad; they are all honest players who consistently give their best at training and matches. We are delighted that their efforts have been rewarded with this title. Hard luck to St Enda’s – they played a great game.
Appreciation
The indoor hurling league is a triumph of organisation by North Antrim. The competition started three weeks ago. 42 teams, from 5 counties, played a total of 234 matches at 7 venues. After a preliminary grading round, teams were divided into seven sections and the two top ranked teams from each section went forward to the finals. It’s nice to win a title but the real success of this tournament is that, although games are competitive, the overall focus is on promoting hurling, having fun and giving youngsters an opportunity to play hurling at a time of year when perhaps the only other attraction is computer games or TV.
We would like to thank;
- Adair Arms Hotel for sponsoring the team.
- North Antrim GAA for running the competition.
- Owen and Cormac Elliott, for organising fixtures and officiating at matches.
- All the teams we competed against during the league for their sportsmanship.
- Dr. Sean Cosgrove for providing first aid to the wounded – and coronary care to the mentors.
- The U12 squad and all our young hurlers for their effort and dedication. They are a great bunch, a pleasure to work with and a credit to the club and their families

U12 Hurlers Reach Final of Indoor League
Congratulations to our U12 hurlers who finished top of their section to qualify for the final of the North Antrim Indoor League last Saturday. They drew with Dungiven and beat St Enda’s, Glenarm, Cushendun, and Rasharkin along the way. Over their five games, the lads scored twenty seven goals while conceding only six; demonstrating a ruthless attack and a mean defence. We are very proud of this squad, they are all honest players who consistently give their best at training and matches, and we are delighted that their efforts have been rewarded with a place in the final. Their opponents are St Enda’s, Glengormley, who qualified after beating Dungiven in a play off for second place.
The final will be played next Saturday at Seven Towers Leisure Centre. The lads will feel confident about their chances, however, as the credit crunch and turmoil in the stock market has shown; past performance is no guarantee of future results. Management will guard against complacency and the lads will be back training on Wednesday night to prepare for the game. St Enda’s are managed by Seamus Crummey’s nephew, Colm. With this hurling pedigree to guide them, we can expect a stiff challenge as they will be eager to avenge last Saturday’s loss to All Saints.
Results:
All Saints 5 St Enda’s 0
All Saints 5 Rasharkin 0
All Saints 5 Dungiven 5
All Saints 6 Glenarm 0
All Saints 6 Cushendun 1
We encourage everyone to come along to the leisure centre on Saturday to support the lads and hopefully see them lift the first silverware for the club this year.
Date – Saturday 23rd January
Venue – Seven Towers Leisure Centre
Time – 14:00
Age – U12 (born on or after1998)
Players should be at the leisure centre for 13:30.

Parent Coaching Session
We are organising an informal coaching session for parents in the next week or so. The idea is to teach parents some basic hurling skills so that they will feel confident to practise with their children at home and to help out at training sessions if they wish. Thomas McCann, South West Coaching Officer will take the session. Before finalising a date and venue we would like to assess numbers interested.
If you would like to come along please let Paddy know – phone or text (07708878968) or reply to this post on the club website.
