U-14s Make It 3 In A Row

SWFL U-14
All Saints 5-11 Ballycastle 2-1
Saints U14’s made in three wins in a row after a good performance at home to Ballycastle on Friday night. They started brightly and were five up within five minutes. Caolan Loughran scored a goal when a high ball dropped into the net and two points quickly followed one a great effort from long range from right half back Dara Mussen. However they then took their foot of the gas and Ballycastle were back in the game taking the lead with two quick goals after some poor defending.

Saints quickly re-establised their dominance with James Gillan firing over a couple of points and Loughran and Ferris getting the goals to give them a seven point half time lead. They continued to dominate the second haf with Ciaran McLarnon starting to come into the game. He fed Ferris for another goal and Gillan for a point before knocking two great points over himself. Brendan Lemon hit the post for Saints before knocking over a good point from a tight angle. Birthday boy Stephen McAllister then had a chance from a penalty which was well saved by the keeper. Gillan then completed the rout with another fine point.

This was a good win for All Saints with Conor Murray outstanding in defence well supported by Mussen. Caolon Loughran had a great game in midfield and James Gillan and Ferris were the pick of the attack. However they have to learn there will be closer games this season and in these they will need to learn to take their points instead of going for goal all the time. Well done boys!

FOURmidable representation on County U-14 Team

All Saints GAC have the great honour of having 4 girls representing them on the Antrim county girls football squad in the U 14 B Ulster Football Final on Saturday v Fermanagh. The 4 talented girls are: Katie Connolly, Orla Killough, Emma Laverty and Deidre O’ Kane.

The girls have been training very hard in the lead up to this game and this honour is just reward for the talent, skill, commitment and hard work that the girls have displayed all year.

Good luck on Saturday girls, your club is very proud of you!

U-16s Record Impressive Away Victory.

SWFL U-16 Aghagallon 2-10 All Saints 3-20

Both teams started brightly and traded points before the home side finished to the net which gave them a 1:07 to 0:05 lead. This seemed to spur the Ballymena boys on and a fisted goal by Diarmuid Mc Nally and 2 unanswered points saw the teams level at half time

HT Aghagallon 1:07 – All Saints 1:07

The second half saw Aghagallon score the first point, but the Slemish Park lads stuck to the task and they put together a 15 minute period of scintilating football which saw them score 7 points without reply, and when Ryan “Onion” Mc Cartney finished to the net, the All Saints lads were firmly in control. A superb finish by the hard working Tyrone Hasson saw the Ballymena boys further extend their lead and despite a late consolation goal  the All Saints lads ran out worthy winners on a scoreline of:

Aghagallon 2:10 – All Saints 3:20

All in all, the Slemish Park boys can be happy with their performance. The defence and mid field worked tirelessly which created a platform for their forwards to create havoc, all the forwards scored from play.

This game was a tremendous advertisement for underage football, with no quarter asked, nor given by either side. A special word of praise must be given to the referee, who allowed the game to flow at all times.

Juvenile Hurling Training Times

Wednesday nights

P2 –P4 – 06:30 – 07:45

P5 – Y8 -06:30 – 08:00

We are aware that some players have been getting some extra homework recently, especially those in P6. We would like to have all children present for the start of training but we understand that sometimes tricky sums or spellings can hold things up a bit. We don’t want to add any pressure to children or parents, so don’t worry if you are delayed – finish your homework and come along anyway.

Fantastic Weekend for our U-12s

All Saints U12’s finished off a fantastic weekend of matches by doing the Double Double. On Friday night (22nd May) away to Dunloy both the U12’s Tigers and U12’s Lions teams earned hard fought victories in two very well contested matches, and on Sunday (24th May) the Tigers again produced an excellent display to defeat Glenavy 4–7  to 4-6, whilst the Tigers were quite simply outstanding in inflicting a heavy defeat to their Glenavy counterparts, the final score 7-12 to 2-2.

LIONS

For the Lions Connell Lemon and Conor Gallagher were at the centre of everything over the weekend putting in excellent displays. Paul Mars & Jack Mc Dermott have hit a rich vein of form in the goal scoring department and between them bagged nine goals over the two games. Emmet Mc Allister had an outstanding game against Glenavy, and in front of him Luke O’Rawe, Jack Mc Kenna and Niall Shannon provided a fantastic full back line, whilst Anthony Mc Avoy seems to cover every blade of grass in providing support all over the field.

TIGERS

On the Tigers team Kieron Neeson bagged an incredible 6-4 against Glenavy, whilst the consistently brilliant displays by Josh King have been one of the highlights of the season so far. Ryan Mc Gill provides excellent defence cover along with Eoin Walsh, and in addition Ryan likes to get forward and contribute on the score sheet. Tigers captain Daire Hasson also fond the net against Glenavy, and Anthony Mc Guigan contributed with a couple of point of that sweet right boot he possess. Ryan Mc Kenna put in a man-of-the match performance against Dunloy, one only wonders what the score line would have been on Sunday if Ryan had been available for selection against Glenavy.

Well done to all the boys!

U-14s Record Emphatic victory away to Dunloy

U-14 SWFL
All Saints 11-17 Dunloy 1-2

All Saints U14’s recorded an emphatic victory on Friday night away to Dunloy. Tony Ferris grabbed the headlines scoring 5-5 from play but this was a great team performance from start to finish. Saints were in front with a goal from James Gillan in the 1st minute and never looked back. Gareth Hamill was in great form at midfield on his first outfield start chipping in with 2-2 and was ably assisted by Caolon Loughran. Ferris was always a danger up front as was Ciaran McLarnon who scored 5 first points before going off injured at half time. Sean Maguire and Brendan Lemon also weighed in with second half goals and Niall McCarry was unlucky with great effort. The defence was always in control with John Kelly, Dara Mussen and Aidan O’Connell all having great games. Well done to the lads.

UNDER 16’s START BRESLIN CUP WITH A WIN

South West U-16 Football Championship

ALLSAINTS 2:12 St Endas 0:08

All Saints overcame St Endas at Slemish Park to qualify for the 1/4 finals of the South West U16 Championship. Goals in either half from Peter “Pizza” Mc Reynolds and Niall Mc Garry helped the young Saints to victory.

All Saints started brightly and were 3 points up before the visitors posted their first point. Both teams exchanged points before Pizza struck with a well placed lob. (?). The Saints finished the half with 3 more unanswered points to leave the half time score All Saints 1:07 – St Endas 0:02

The second half saw the Saints continue to dominate but a combination of poor shooting and over elaboration meant that they never really pulled away.St Endas were now coming more into the game but a sweeping All Saints move saw Niall Mc Garry bravely steal in between goal keeper and full back to fist the ball to the net. This score seemed to spur St Endas into life and they enjoyed their best period of the match posting 3 unanswered points. Both teams then traded points and in the end All Saints ran out victors on a score line of

All Saints 2:12 – St Endas 0:08

All in all a satisfying night for AllSaints. They did enough to win the match but they know that they will have to improve to progress in the competition.

U8 / U10 Go Games at Lurgan Cancelled

This Sunday’s (24th May) planned U8 & U10 Go Games away at Wolfe Tones Lurgan has had to be cancelled as their pitch is waterlogged.

All Saints Development – Quinn Park, Great News!

A Chairde,

While you may have seen some progress over the last few months at the new pitch, there was an aire of doubt regarding the funding and how much was sustainable.

It is with pleasure that I can now  confirm that SportsNI WILL fund the completion of the new pitch that will be available sometime in 2010. This funding is on a percentage basis, and as usual we need to generate some capital into the project. Be assured we will and without doubt continue to provide the best for the club, town and county.

All that is asked in return is that you support All Saints G.A.C. – in whatever way

Monday Night Juvenile training cancelled

As was announced yesterday at our La na Glub 125 celebrations there will be no juvenile training at Slemish Park this evening due to the two pitches still being closed. We would hope (If the good weather keeps up) to resume our training again next Monday evening (18th of May).
