Juvenile Presentation 2009
On Sunday 25th January, All Saints hosted the annual Juvenile Presentation at Slemish Park, and this year was probably the best ever run.
Special guests for the day were Ryan Mellon (Tyrone Footballer), Arron Graffin (Antrim Hurler) and Micky McCullough (Manager of Rossa Camogs). All the guests spoke excellently and gave great advice to our young players. They were also more than willing to sign autographs and have their photos taken, so a big thank-you must go to them.
Also in attendance were the All Saints Senior Footballers, who won the 2008 Antrim Intermediate Football Championship.
There must’ve been well over 100 in attendance, and all were treated to a buffet style dinner before the presentations.
The presentations were well put together, and ran very smoothly, with all the award winners delighted with their honours.
It was certainly another very proud and encouraging day for the Club, and thanks must go to all who helped organise it, under the guidance of Youth Officer Hugh Killough.

All Saints Ball-Boys: Ciarán and Daire
Ciarán Hasson and Daire Hasson had the privilege on Sunday to be ball-boys at the Walsh Cup Semi-Final between Antrim and All-Ireland Champions Kilkenny at Casement Park.
The lads done a great job, they didn’t let a ball go past them! They had a great day and mixed well with the ball boys from other clubs, they did as they were asked by umpires and county officials. Their manners were excellent throughout and they were a credit to the club and their schools.
It was a very good game, a lot closer than many expected. Antrim led at half time but Kilkenny pulled away in the last quarter to win by five points.
At the end of the match the boys got to meet the players – in the photo gallery are photographs of them with Kilkenny manager Brian Cody and Liam Cassley from the All Saints club who was on the Antrim panel.
They got sliotars, signed by the managers of both teams, as souvenirs and recognition of their good work.
Thanks to Kieran Megraw and the County Board for giving the boys the opportunity to experience inter county hurling so close at hand. Hopefully in another ten years or so they will be playing for the county themselves.

Well Done Liam
Liam Cassley, a member of our senior hurling squad, was on the Antrim panel that lined out against Kilkenny last Sunday. Liam, who is the reigning North Antrim, Junior Hurler of the Year, was a very talented juvenile hurler and the first recipient of the club’s Under 12 Hurler of the Year award in 1997. Liam was also a member of the All Saints football team which won the Antrim Intermediate Championship. He is an inspiration to, and great roll model for our young players, showing what can be achieved with hard work and dedication.
Well done also to Daire Hasson and Ciarán Neeson who were ball boys, and to Eamon Elliott who helped his Dad to do the duties of fourth official at the game.

Under 12 Indoor League
Following their impressive displays in the first round of the Indoor Hurling League our Under 12 hurlers were placed in the mid ranking section of the league table. The second round was played last Saturday at St Patrick’s College. The lads drew against Sean Stinson’s and St Brendan’s while losing to Glenshesk, Loughguile, Burt and Glenarm. Burt and Glenarm progress to the finals. It is interesting to note that three of the opposition were amalgamated teams
All the lads were U10 last year. The competition was a great introduction for them to hurling at this older age group. If they continue to show the same spirit as they did over the past couple of weeks we are confident that they will do well at this level.
Thanks to Owen Elliott for his organisation, the two Cormacs; O’Loan and Elliott for officiating and to Seamus Elliott of Elliot’s Sports in Dunloy for sponsoring the event.

Kilkenny are Coming to Town
This Sunday, 25th January, one of the greatest hurling teams of all time is coming to Belfast. Three in a row All Ireland winners, Kilkenny are playing Antrim at Casement Park in the semi final of the Walsh Cup. Antrim are holders of the cup and are one of just two teams to have beaten the mighty Cats last year. We encourage all our young hurlers and parents to go to the match to support the teams. Throw in is at 2:00pm which allows enough time for people to get back to Slemish Park for the juvenile presentation at 5:00pm.
Appeal
As our present batch of young hurlers are growing up and moving on to older competitions, their mentors are being stretched. We would like to accommodate all age groups from P1 upwards, but to do this we need more volunteers to help out with coaching. If you are interested and can afford an hour a week contact Paddy Neeson (07708878968).
