‘Saint-Sational’ Party a Roaring Success
On Saturday night past, upwards of 100 guests were treated to a great night up in Slemish Park.
The night consisted of an ‘All Stars’ type introduction of the Intermediate Football Champions of 2008 by MC’s Brian Walsh and Hugh Killough. There was also a video highlight of the County Final and Ulster Club Quarter-Final.
Team manager Barney McCann was presented with a signed framed jersey as a mark of his effort and commitment throughout the past year, and indeed previous years.
After a series of Photographs and the raffle, there was live entertainment by ‘Big Rod’.
A great evening was had by all, and thanks must go to Mickey O’Kane and all the others who helped make it happen… it was certainly a very proud occasion for all Ballymena Gaels.

Juvenile Hurling Notice – 17/12/08
Under 12 Airborne Blitz
Our juvenile hurlers took part in an Under 12 indoor blitz last Saturday. Glenarm, Loughguille, Ballycastle, Coleraine and Glenavy provided the opposition.
In previous years winter indoor blitzes concentrated on ground hurling. This year a new game, Airborne Hurling, has been devised which is designed to promote lifting, catching, striking, passing and tackling skills.
We fielded a young squad, all of whom were on this year’s U10 team. After a shaky start in their first match against Glenarm, they got to grips with the new game and went on to draw against Loughguille before beating Ballycastle and Coleraine. They were beaten in their final match by a strong Glenavy side who were overall winners on the day.
We were impressed by the commitment and skill level of the lads and they can take pride in, and confidence from, their performances.
We would like to thank North Antrim Development Committee for organising the blitz, to Owen and Cormac Elliott for officiating, and to all the participating teams for a very enjoyable and sporting event.

Saints go Back to School
All Saint’s Intermediate Championship winning players, Paul McCann, Sean McVeigh and Michael McCarry made a special visit to St. Brigid’s Primary School in Ballymena on Wednesday 10th December to show delighted pupils the trophy they had recently won.
All three boys are former members of All Saint’s Primary School, which was situated on the sight of the new school, St. Brigid’s.
They received a rousing reception from the pupils, many of who play for the local All Saint’s club.

Club Shortlisted for three Major Town Sporting Awards
All Saints GAC have been shortlisted in three categories for this year’s prestigious Ballymena Borough Councils Sports awards. The scheme which has been running for the last five years or so recognises the achievements of all sports grioups and individuals throughout the Ballymena area and it has quickly become a major event in the local sporting calendar. Past recipients of awards include Olympic athletes, Rugby Clubs, GAA clubs and schools. This year our own Barney McCann has been shortlisted for coach of the year, our Senior Footballers shortlisted for team of the year/sporting performance of the year, and Alaster McWilliams for his services to sport. The are awards to be held in The Braid Theatre on Thursday 22nd Jan.We will find out on the night if we are successful in any of the categories. This is yet another major achievement for the club and hopefully we can be successful in at least one of the categories. So congratulations to Barney, Alaster and to the senior footballers and lets hope we can cap off a fantastic year for the club by adding one of these prestigious awards to our haul. A big thank you must go to Paul McCann for his hard work in putting forward these nominations on behalf of the club.

New All County Intermediate Trophy
A Chairde
While on the night at Casement the Celebrations were of course of great joy some noted that the trophy was not of a fitting standard but didn’t make too much of it.
The Chairman of the CCC, Joe Edwards, had been pushing the County Executive for a trophy fitting of the championship. This has now been secured and will be unveiled in the near future. This will mean that our name will be the first on the trophy.
