Scor Na Nog

The Ulster Semi Final of Scór Na nÓg will be held in Antrim on the 12th December 2008.This event will involve representatives from Antrim, Armagh and Down.

In order to meet this deadline the Antrim Scór Committee have proposed the following dates;

Friday 17th October – Cut Off Date of entries (Via County Office)

Saturday 8th November – 2nd County Semi Final

Saturday 29th November – County Final.

This competition is open to persons under the age of 17.

All teams must complete in a minimum of 2 events.

As 2009 is the 40th anniversary of Scór Na nÓg, clubs are asked to make a special effort to take part in this year’s competition

Scór can be a positive outlet to the youth in our clubs and allow those who maybe don’t excel on the pitch to excel in another area of the GAA.

Once again all clubs in the county are urged to make a genuine effort to compete in this aspect of the GAA.

While booklets were previously forwarded to clubs further information on scór can be found at  http://www.gaa.ie/files/scor/scor_booklet__07.pdf

If anyone is interested in competing please contact the number below. Equally if someone from the club is willing to lead this event please leave details – or contact Secretary@allsaintsgac.com

All Saints U-8 & U-10 Football Squads

All Saints U-8 & U-10 Football Squads

Our U-8s and U10s very succssful season comes to a close in spectacular fashion this Saturday at Aldergrove. The TESCO sponsored ‘Go Games’ mini league series will come to an exciting climax when ourselves, Tir Na nOg, St Endas, St Joseph’s, St James and Carryduff all get to meet each other for one final time this season. This time there’s silverware on offer!  More details can be found on our ‘Events Planner’ but here are the main details for Saturday:

  • Can we ask for players/family & friends to meet at St Patrick School gates, departing ‘by convoy’ for Crumlin at 8.15am
  • All players to arrive fully kitted out, as changing facilities will not be available. We recommend that players also bring with them tracksuits etc to keep warm during non-playing periods. Also trainers, for wearing during the Parade. Please ensure that all gear is labeled with the players name.
  • The organisers of this event have asked that all those arriving, approach the club from the Glenavy side, rather than through the town in order to avoid congestion problems.
  • All vehicles to park in the grounds of the High School, disabled parking only available at St James GAC.
  • Opening ceremony at 9.30am. All players to have assembled as indicated by the sign displaying an All Saints jersey.
  • For those games taking place in Glenavy, ‘Park and Ride’ provision will be provided for the transfer to & from.
  • Players to bring their own lunch & drinks. Burgers and hot dogs can be purchased, however St James have asked that each club inform them of the level of demand for this, in order to help them prepare and cater for this. We’ll aim to take a head-count on Saturday morning prior to departure, as to those interested in purchasing burgers/hot-dogs.

As a club we wish that all our players enjoy this occasion and we know as always you’ll do your very best in representing ALL SAINTS GAC

Juvenile Hurling Notice – 23/09/08

Juvenile Hurlers Runners Up in P7 Championship Blitz

Congratulations to our young hurlers who were runners up in the P7 Championship Blitz held at Rasharkin last Saturday. The lads lost to tournament winners Glenarm in their first match, before settling down to victories against Latharna Óg, and Rasharkin and a draw against Tir na nÓg.

Designed as a P7 competition the All Saints panel consisted of four P5s, four P6s and four P7s. We were very impressed by how this young team faced the challenge of more robust opposition, the experience and confidence they gained will stand to them in the future.

The team received runners up medals which will be presented at the juvenile presentation on 29th September.

Team and Scores

Eamon Elliott (1:00), Ryan McGarry, Eoghan McGuigan, Cormac Lemon (1:00), Conor Gallagher (1:01), Ciarán Neeson (4:09), Conor Cosgrove (1:00), Michael Carberry, Conor McCormick (1:01), Daire Hasson (4:02), Anthony McGuigan, Paul Johnston.

This blitz was due to be held in Ballymena but, due to heavy rain the pitches at Slemish Park were declared unplayable on Friday evening. We thank Owen Elliott for contacting the clubs involved and for his eleventh hour reorganisation of the event.

Well done to Cormac Elliott who was our young whistler referee and thanks to all parents who came along to support.

All Ireland Football Tickets

Bad news All Saints Club Members. The Club’s allocation was 3 tickets, 2 were reserved for the winners of our recent auction at the Fundraising Boxing Tournament, while the other was the Chairman’s right.

Reports suggest that some clubs that are of the one code have been allocated 8 or 9 tickets, while we participate at every level and seem to be given a trivial allocation.

Sorry to those that put their name into the, what was expected ,draw and had booked accommodation for the final. We have no answers but feel free to ask the question regarding allocation at the Antrim website on the links icon on our homepage.
